If There Were No After Life
Whether there’s afterlife, the answer has never been the same. The atheists deny after life, believing that our life is no more than from the cradle to the grave. They may care about their illustrious names after death; they may feel attached to the affection of their offspring, but they never lay their hopes on their afterlife. They may also say that good will be rewarded with good, and evil with evil, but they don’t really believe any retribution in their after life.
However, in the religious world or among the superstitious people, the belief in afterlife is very popular. They do not only believe in afterlife, but thousands of reincarnations as well. In the mysterious world, there are the paradise and the hell, the celestial beings and the gods, the Buddha and the Bodhisattvas.
Maybe they really believed it, or maybe they just wanted to make use of people’s veneration, the ancient emperors always declared that they were the real dragons, the sons of God, while the royal ministers claimed to be the reincarnations of various constellations. But can the stars reincarnate?
Many people burn incense and kowtow, do good deeds and strive for virtues, not just for the present, but mainly to let God see their sincerity so as to be reborn into a better afterlife, or to achieve the highest enlightenment after several lives of practice. They do believe in afterlife. But I can’t help asking: Suppose there were no afterlife, would you still do good deeds and strive for virtues? And If God does not see what you are doing, would you still be so upright and selfless? If you work, not for serving the public and liberating the others, but just for a better afterlife of your own, isn’t it a little too selfish? Comparing with this kind of believers, those who don’t believe in afterlife, but still keep doing good deeds, are the most sincere and honest philanthropists, because they do them not for themselves but for other.
You may wonder if I believe in afterlife. My answer is: I know nothing about my previous life, so I dare not make improper comments on afterlife. But I do hope there’s afterlife! Because our present life is so short that so many things slip away before our proper understanding. I have so many dreams, so many wishes, so many ambitions, as well as so many regrets and concerns. If there were no afterlife, all of them will remain unrealized!
I’m not contented with the present commonplace life, I’m very much attached to the affections that should have been mine but have been washed away by the hurrying time, and I yearn for the perfection and maturity if I could start all over again. So believe it or not, I’d rather there were afterlife.

the principal of the school focuses on education rather than waste time in endless meetings and social activities. teachers’ wages are not high but enough to live comfortably. there are no other things to do except to teach. there are no paper requirements, no titles and no ranks because they don’t need to be judged by those things. almost every teacher is a well-known scholar and master in a particular field. a language teacher may be a writer at the same time. a math teacher may try to overcome a world-class guess. a physics teacher can win invention awards and a music teacher may return from an international music competition again.
in short, in this school, the principal is satisfied, the teachers are happy and the students are joyful. that’s my dream.

Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others, including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all constructed boats and left. Except for Love.

When the island had almost sunk, Love decided to ask for help.
Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said,"Richness, can you take me with you?"
Richness answered, "No, I can't. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you."
Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel. "Vanity, please help me!"
"I can't help you, Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat," Vanity answered.
Sadness was close by so Love asked, "Sadness, let me go with you."
"Oh . . . Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!"
Happiness passed by Love, too, but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her.
Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come, Love, I will take you." It was an elder. So blessed and overjoyed, Love even forgot to ask the elder where they were going. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own way. Realizing how much was owed the elder, Love asked Knowledge, another elder, "Who Helped me?"
"It was Time," Knowledge answered.
"Time?" asked Love. "But why did Time help me?"
Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, "Because only Time is capable of understanding how valuable Love is."

Do I Need To Like Myself?
Yes! People who don't like themselves are a pain in the neck!
Usually, people with a poor self-image use one of two irritating strategies. They either:
a) criticize you a lot or
b) they criticize themselves a lot.
STRATEGY A: They criticize you a lot. They figure that by criticizing other people they can feel better about themselves.
Let's take Fred, who feels inferior. Fred thinks he has a big nose and piggy eyes. He also secretly feels a bit stupid.
So what's his strategy to feel better about himself? He criticizes all his friends. He has names for them like “Flathead”, “Chicken Legs” and “Dogbrain”. Whenever someone else makes a mistake, he announces it to the whole class. (He probably doesn't even realize he criticizes people―or why he does it.)
If you have parents, friends or brothers and sisters who don't like themselves―they might criticize you and everyone around them. Just remember that they criticize you because they have a problem. If you remember that they are actually hurting inside, you won't get so upset by their behaviour.
STRATEGY B: Some people who don't like themselves criticize themselves a lot. They use reverse psychology...
Take Mary who doesn't like herself. She's always telling you, “You are prettier than me. You are smarter. Nobody likes me.” She's hoping that you will reply, “No Mary! You are clever. You are beautiful.” After a while, people like Mary get on your nerves!
In a nutshell
When we don't like ourselves, we irritate other people. We also put ourselves through a lot of stress. When we accept ourselves a little better, we don't play these games.
How Can I Like Myself
In our hearts, most of us believe we should be doing better. We think that we should have gotten higher grades. We want to be popular and hang out with the “in” crowd. We feel we don't measure up to our parents' expectations. Our parents help to confirm this idea when they ask, “Why can't you be more like your brother?”
Whenever you are feeling low, be your own best friend. Accept that, up to now, you have lived your life the best way you know how. No one sets out to screw up their life! Like anyone, you've done the odd stupid thing. With more information you'll likely do better in the future.
Liking yourself means forgiving yourself. If you have made some serious mistakes, if you have hurt some people―and yourself―feeling guilty won't help.
If you are feeling guilty about something, you have already suffered enough. Being guilty for another six months won't help anybody.
Forget perfection and aim for improvement.
It's a funny thing. When you forgive yourself for your own mistakes, you automatically begin to let others off the hook for the same things.
“But I'm Not Brilliant...”
You might look at yourself and say, “I'm not as beautiful as my sister, I'm not as talented as my friends and I'm not brilliant at anything! How can I feel good about me?”
Fact: Nobody is good at everything and most of us have those thoughts!
But here's the lowdown! Talent and beauty are very useful―but there are plenty of talented and beautiful people around whom we don't necessarily admire. And some of them are a pan in the butt!
The qualities most of us value above all others are honesty, courage, persistence, generosity and humility. Take a look at this list and you'll find something interesting. You aren't born with these things. You develop them. Anyone can have them! If you want self-respect, and respect from others, you don't have to be an Einstein or a super-model.
You simply work at developing your own honesty, determination, generosity, humility and courage. It is called “character”.

怎样才能喜欢自己?

“I gave her the wisdom to know that a good husband never hurts his wife, but sometimes tests her strength and resolve to stand beside him unfalteringly.”
“And finally, I gave her a tear to shed. That is her exclusively to use whenever it is needed.”
“You see the beauty of a women is not the clothes she wears, the figure she carries, or the way she combs her hair.”

It is easy to describe success in terms of money, fame and reputation. But I believe that success is not external. I believe that success comes from within. My definition of success is to be true to yourself, and be true to others. That means, that you must cherish your personal ideal even in the face of adversity. I also believe that success is not discriminatory. Success is not restricted to such a class of people, in fact, it may be achieved by any person irrespective of his race, creed, gender and economic background. A good example of success is that of Beethoven. He is one of the world's most famous composers, yet he was deaf. He could not hear the majestic pieces of music that he created. Yet, in the face of this adversity, he was able to maintain his ideals--that of composing music.
To exemplify what success means to me, I pose a question to all of you. What brings us together here today? I believe that it is the beauty of the spoken word. The effect of pause and the sound of rhetoric are unique to the spoken word. I believe the beauty of the spoken word is even stronger for those who have difficulty in expressing themselves.
These people are reclusive and had their emotions hidden within them. I once went to Australia and I saw two pictures, Once was drawn by a normal child, the other was drawn by a child with social inhibitions. The picture drawn by the normal child was simple and plain. The other was life-like, full of details and imagination. What this shows is that these are ideas, emotions and feelings that are locked internally in thesechildren.
My ideal is to be the key, spreading the beauty of the spoken words to these children. These children have been neglected, but I feel that I can and should help these children to find themselves and be able to express themselves.
I realize that this is a difficult task, and there are many obstacles on the way. But I believe in my ideals and I will stick to them--even in the face of adversity. We should never have a premature abortion of ideals--let the child, let our ideals, stand the challenge. For a life without ideals is not living.

首先介绍一下教材,是跟我们三、四、五年级英语教材相衔接的,也是和我们的初中英语相配套的,如果你以前的英语没有学好,那相对来说,你现在学得比较累;同样地,如果你现在不学好英语,那将来的英语学习也是不难想象的。因为现在小学英语,如果有心的家长仔细看的话,会发现小学英语的词汇量与语法是无法想象的。 所以我们只有现在打好良好的基础,才不会导致英语越学越难在、越学越差。
这一班学生在英语方面是我刚刚接手的,每个学生学习情况我还在不断的了解之中,其实在座的家长对自己子女的情况比我更加清楚。学生们都是在三年级时同一起跑线上起跑的,经过三年来的学习,学生与学生之间已经拉开了差距。一些好的学生学习兴趣浓,学习劲头足,课堂上积极思维,踊跃发言,课后及时巩固,形成良性循环的好势头。他们的学习习惯好,在听、说、读、写方面都能齐头并进,我为他们感到欣慰。可也有一些学生,平时学习马虎,基础不扎实,功亏一篑,导致他们现在课上听讲出现困难,用他们自己的话说:“老师上课,我听不懂。”听不懂,还不努力,书面作业拖拉不交,口头作业根本不完成,如此一来,学习自然成了件头痛事,麻烦事。其实,大部分的学生还是处于中间层次,老师所教的,所布置的作业能够基本完成,但学习的效率又因人而异,存在着个体差别。尽管他 们平时不需要老师操太多的心,费太大的力,但是说起各方面的表现,又总有一丝遗憾,我们总希望他们能够再上一个台阶。
我曾经看到过这样一个比喻,说医生能够给予病人的是处方,而病人能够康复的关键就是能有很好的'护理。在我们教学中也是这样的,我们老师就好象是医生,给了一个学生方法,一张学习的处方,而关键就是看家长这个护工有没有做到出色的护理工作。
我们这些医生又是怎么做的呢,我向大家汇报一下我们英语老师的日常工作。我们六年级英语组有四位老师。每周五我们会用半天的时间来总结本周的工作,安排下一周的工作,然后分头备课。每天早上上课前的20分钟我们都会讨论今天课上的重点、难点,每天的家庭作业和课堂作业都是统一布置的。每一份作业我们都会做到“有做必收,有收必批,有批必评,有评必改”的十六字方针,所以我敢说,我们班的每位同学的每分作业我都是每天都过关了再回家的,除非我不在学校,所以,只要我是您孩子一天的英语老师,就请您放100个心,我会公平地对待每一个孩子。
但是究竟在家怎样帮助孩子学好英语呢?我们老师自然是最直接的知识传授者,有着不可推卸的责任。在此,我们只是真诚地呼吁我们的家长配合学校,配合老师,靠我们共同的努力来帮助孩子学好英语。用一句时髦的话说:我们要和孩子共同成长。
重视良好的学习习惯的培养
(1) 让孩子多听录音 在少儿英语教学中,首先是加强听力训练和说话训练,然后才是读写能力的培养。听说能力差,用英语进行交际的能力差,为此,家长一定要配合学校来要求孩子, 要创造条件让孩子多听,多听纯正的录音,听几遍、听清楚了以后,跟着说。按照眼前利益来看,我们的升学考试也一年比一年注重听力、阅读等需要综合能力的部分。
(2)让孩子大声说英语 家长要每天留出15分钟左右时间让孩子读读英语,不管当天有无英语课。我们要鼓励孩子大声地朗读、对话、问答,大声说,不害羞,这样有利于清楚地表达自己,也有利于他人纠正自己的错误。
(3) 让孩子熟练背诵课文和单词背诵是一项基本功,可以积累一些日常用语,到用的时等候就可以脱口而出。但是在背诵过程中要讲究方法,不可操之过急,要注意分散和集中相结合。我们一般是分段教课文,那就可以请学生分段背课文。等快教完的时候,再把课文串起来背,这样可以降低一点难度,让学生背得轻松些。但是在检查过程中,我们发现有一部分学生背得相当熟练,
可问他课文中的某个词组或句子的意思时,他却一问三不知。所以,我们在背诵过程中要注意上下文的理解,在理解的基础上达到背诵的要求,课文中涉及到的相关词组和句型,要让学生熟记,并能用它们来造句、说话。
单词亦是如此,分散记忆、根据读音记忆单词都是可取的方法。有时,我们回家布置抄写单词,其目的不在于抄,而在于提醒学生记忆这些单词。但是在日常学习中,学生不重视这项作业,认为只是抄抄而已,不做也没什么关系,其实他连抄写都不做,根本别说是去背了,结果几次下来,他负债累累,应付不过来,学习处于被动状态,从而影响了以后的学习,出现退步现象。因此,请大家在家里督促孩子保质保量地完成英语作业,该读的读、该说的说、该写的写、该记的记,及时巩固,养成良好的习惯。父母亲的良好榜样起着很大作用。孩子一般还没有明确的学习目的,这时,父母亲对学习的态度,特别是行为,会极大地影响孩子。
孩子是每个家庭的重心和希望,有一位家长说过:“要把培养孩子当作自己的事业来做。”是啊,只要你多投入一点,相信你的孩子会给予你更多的回报!

各位领导、各位老师:
下午好!今年,我们的孩子进入了小学阶段最关键的一年,关于英语学习的重要性,我就不想赘述了,大家看看满大街的英语培训机构、到处散发的英语辅导小广告就知道了。今天主要谈两点,一是孩子英语学习的现状,二是我在今后的努力方向。
由于我们是农村学校,英语学科的学习可以算是一个硬伤!在毕业考中要想取得与数学、语文、科学同等的好成绩这个结果,无论是对于教师还是学生都是一个非常艰巨的任务。首先对于学生来说,英语这一科完全是陌生的学科,我们学校只有短短三年的系统学习的时间,就好比上到3年级的知识却要考6年级的难度,怎么可能呢?而对于老师来说,在远远少于其他学科的有限的时间中,要将一年级的孩子直接教到六年级的水平也只能选择纯粹的知识灌输,这就免不了少了让孩子体会循序渐进的这种大量乐趣,从而使一部分学生丧失了对这一学科的兴趣和热情,给教学带来了不便。
虽然,在平时的教学工作中,我已经尽量使用多媒体,并且坚持每节课有课前热身活动:如小诗,歌曲,身体律动等等,但是问题也随之而来--这些被有趣小知识占用的时间就会影响应试的大知识的传授。所以,我一直有个困惑,英语学科的兴趣培养和知识教学到底应该怎么样来协调和融合?
以上是我对英语学科现状的.一些感受,下面是孩子们的学习情况。 从期中之前的情况来看呢,我感觉孩子学习劲头还是比较足的。大多数孩子上课时能够认真听讲、积极发言,还有一些孩子学习很踏实、很用心,绝大部分同学同学作业都能按时完成。但是完成质量高的不多。比如,我布置的默写单词、词组,一些同学根本就是抄一遍了事,没有掌握单词的拼写。要求背诵课文,有的同学连读都不读,这在第二天的课堂上都能体现出来。
第二个感觉呢,从我们期中测验卷上可以看得出,成绩不够理想。从卷面反馈来看,同学们的基础比较薄弱。单词拼写错误多说明单词背得不熟练,句型搭配、连词成句错的多说明课文不熟悉,而书面表达也体现了孩子们综合知识的运用能力还欠缺。最终反映出课后功夫下的不够。
今年学校同样非常重视六年级,对英语也是提到了要特别提高。所以,对于我们这一届孩子我们学校是寄予了很大希望的,作为老师我们也是满怀信心和热情。作为不经常使用的外语,仅靠课堂上的四十分钟是远远不够的,大量的读背默要在课外完成,这些也是英语学习的基础,对于自制力较弱的孩子来说,我觉得家长的督促尤为重要。 所以在上次开家长会时我请家长们一定要做好督促工作。
1、每天的作业都记在家庭作业本上,请家长在作业本上签字。签字的目的,不是为了签字而签字,读,读了么,是不是跟录音读的;背,背的熟不熟。每天的作业老师指出的错误及时纠正了么。
2、默单词、词组不是默完就算,一定要让孩子对着书检查一遍,把错的改正再背会,才真正起到默的效果。每课的的单词默写,一般要求当天教当天默。这是符合人的遗忘规律的。效果要比过几天补要好的多,这样,在学校默的时候,学生就有底气,正确率高,这也是一次成功的体验,可以增强孩子学习英语的信心。
3、经常检查孩子的书,一是可以看出孩子上课是否认真听了、记了,二是督促孩子及时复习老师上课是讲的重点。

3、看孩子的试卷,不是光看看分数就完了,要了解孩子为什么错,是单词没记住,是上课没注意听,还有就是把老师评讲的要点让孩子认真复习。帮助孩子把试卷保存好,每次期中期末考试前把所有的试卷翻看一遍,专看老师记的重点和自己的错题是非常有效的方法,起到事半功倍的效果。
其实众所周知:学英语并没有多少技巧,也不需要多聪明,关键的字只有两个“功夫”!在这小学最关键的一年,我会在孩子身上下更多点功夫,主要集中在句子练习和书面表达这两个薄弱环节上,让到孩子们上中学的时候能轻松一点。
最终一句话,革命尚未成功,同志尚需努力,这一年,我会和他们一起努力,加油!
